Hi Lab,
Sometimes small changes can have big effects. Always be on the look out for these easy wins. Take transactional costs, for example. Little frictions, such as having to set up your exercise equipment can reduce the amount of exercise you get and insufficient frictions can have you checking Twitter or your emails too often.
Quick fixes:
Attaching a pull up bar to my door frame tempting me to do a few pull ups every time I passed by.
Moving Twitter, Facebook, and GMail to a folder or off the home screen. Add more swipes the more tempting the behavior.
The advanced version of this is to use the Toyota method to analyze your behavior and environment to minimize muda (wasteful inefficiencies). As always, lab members can ask me to talk about anything in future emails.
Best wishes,
Michael
